Good value, worked well

I bought a 4-Week Bus Pass for my daily commute. The process was pretty simple online, though I had to wait a bit for the card itself. It took about 6 days to arrive after ordering, which was fine. Topping up with the Swift Collector app was easy enough, just tap and go. I had a quick question about balance transfer after my old one expired, and customer service actually picked up fast and sorted it out for me. The card worked perfectly on all the buses, no issues at all. Definitely saves me money compared to daily tickets.

Worth it for students

I was looking for the cheapest way to get around for uni, so I got the Student Swift Card. Applying for the photocard took a little while, but once approved, the savings on the Termly Student Pass are really good. It's way cheaper than buying individual tickets every day, especially since I use both buses and the tram. The initial cost for the pass felt like a lot upfront, but when you break it down, it's definitely worth it for the amount I travel. I priced out other options, and this one saved me a fair bit.

Easy bus pass

Got a 1-Week Bus Pass. Ordered it, came quick. Used it on the bus, no problem. Top-up was simple with the app. Good for short trips.

How does Swift Card compare to just buying tickets from National Express West Midlands? Is it worth it?

L Leah 2 weeks ago
For daily bus travel, Swift Card is almost always cheaper if you're getting a season ticket, even just a weekly one. Nat Ex is good if you only travel super occasionally, but for regular trips, Swift wins.

Swift is better if you're using buses/trams/trains from different operators cause it covers everything, not just National Express. Plus the capping on Pay As You Go is neat.

Lost my Swift Card, what's the deal with getting a replacement? Is it a pain?

A Adam Sanchez 2 weeks ago
It's not too bad. You report it lost online and they can transfer any remaining balance to a new card. Think there's a small fee for the new physical card, but your credit isn't lost, which is good.

pretty sure you can get a replacement, yeah. just contact them and they'll sort it out, usually transfer over your old balance too.

Hey guys, thinking of getting a Swift Card for my commute. How long does it usually take for a top-up to show up on the card? Don't want to get stuck at the bus stop.

J Julia G. 1 week ago
If you do it online and then use a Swift Collector or a bus/tram reader, it's usually pretty quick, like within an hour or so in my experience. I always tap it on a collector before I actually need it.

yeah it can take a bit, especially if you top up online. I always try to do it the night before just in case. Don't think it's instant like some other cards.

Does Swift Card have any student discounts? Trying to save some cash on travel.

L Linda E. 2 days ago
Yeah, they definitely do! You need to get a specific student photocard. Check their website, it'll tell you how to apply for it and what documents you need.

pretty sure you have to apply for a student swift photocard first, then you can load student travel onto it. i think it's different to just a regular swift card.

Can you actually use Swift Card on trains in the West Midlands? Or is it just for buses and trams?

S Steven K. 1 month ago
Yep, you can use it on trains! I use my nNetwork season ticket on West Midlands Railway all the time. Just make sure you get the right season ticket type if you plan to use trains.

It depends on your ticket type. Like, a bus pass won't work on a train, but they have 'nNetwork' or 'nTrain' options that do.
